Are we looking for buddies...?

I have a slightly silly comment, but they can't all be deep questions, I suppose :-)

I noticed that the site sometimes uses the word 'contact' when describing your contacts, and sometimes the word 'buddy'. Maybe it's just a personal thing, but the word 'buddy' strikes me as being a little too informal. 'Buddies' to me are people you go out for a beer with; and while I like going out for a beer, maybe the site should take into account that some users will be here strictly for professional contacts. The idea of e.g. one professor sending another professor an invitation to be his 'buddy' might seem a little odd to some users, especially if the professors have never met. So personally, I would prefer to use only the word 'contacts', rather than 'buddies'.

But as I said, this is a personal opinion. So what does everyone else think? Contacts or buddies? Work or beer? It's a tough decision.

inflation

I think it was napster which tried hard to argue that all it's users were friends of each other - and therefore the filesharing has to be regarded as 'fair use'

If I am remembering right - napster was the first to start this buddy-inflation.

Completely agree

Will change now, I thought all instances had been changed but will go through them all now and check.
