Do you like the new Spidera platform?

Thanks Norman!

Some quick responses: Groups become especially useful once collaborations start to happen, as they can happen in a secure, private club environments. Until people get used to the environment, things will be hard to find - it's like getting into a hire car and finding that you have switched the windscreen wipers on when you meant to turn the indicator on, or not being able to find reverse....... I've had my car 3 years and I had to look for the fog light switch the other day..... by using it a lot, we will all get used to it - it's just a matter of practice! The point of uploading stuff to the server first is because one of the requirements was to upload/store documents, etc........ it's much easier to set a policy of uploading and saving everything than it is to have two different policies for different things. A tree structure is one way of doing it - it wasn't in the original specification though, so the platform hasn't been built that way. We are expecting many more issues to come to light - they always do......... Fortunately, all the issues so far have been simple and easy to resolve! But we need people to use the platform and let us know what they find - as you have, thank you! Although, it would be good to keep questions in the Support thread http://www.spidera.eu/spidera-support-group wherever possible. In terms of security and the database, the underlying technology has been stress tested to thousands of users and many, many gigabytes of data, so we have no concerns there! Regards Rory

Wow

Am I really the only one finding something - in the already quiet good plattform - to improve?
stupid, sceptic, critical german I am ... :

- There seem to be some smallish bugs around - I expect more to pop up as more users are actually using
the plattform. Stress testing the underlying database and revealing eg. parallelism or security issues has
to be done yet.
- I am sceptical whether the notion of 'group' as used on spidera.eu will ever take off.
- small inconsistencies between spidera and my brain: e.g. I am always unsure for about a minute how to
find the relevant/actual forum threads for a group
- many small usability improvements could be made eg:
- it is far too difficult to insert images into comments (have to save them on the spidera server first??).
- It would be advantageous from my point of view to have some tree structure (a'la eg. slashdot or reddit) for threads.
