Strategy/Feasibility Consultant - BT OneIT Feb 2005 – May 2007

  • Remit: Provide leadership and consultancy to address “pain points” and/or emerging opportunities for BT businesses, especially Openreach. Provide initial analysis and scoping of the request/idea/problem to identify root causes and/or opportunities, followed by deep analysis of commercial, technical and process issues to arrive at recommended actions.
  • Deliver report on each case outlining potential solutions, high-level solution design and recommendations on how to proceed, with an associated business case.
  • Outcome: Dozens of solutions delivered worth £millions, covering many different areas of the business with significant focus on Broadband and LLU.

Transformation Consultant - Batelco Nov 2005 – Nov 2006

  • Remit: To provide a transformation roadmap from existing systems to a system stack that is fit for purpose to manage an NGN infrastructure and associated services.
  • Leading an 18-man/month audit of existing OSS/BSS systems and provide detailed recommendations for their NGOSS/BSS systems consolidation/transformation. Creating alignment between people, process and technology across the three LOBs.
  • Outcome: Initial Programme delivered per requirements. Personal remit then widened to ownership of transformation of OSS/BSS architecture, including international subsidiaries in Mobile, Fixed and ISP – objective: to create a harmonised Group technology roadmap.

Interim Programme Auditor/Consultant - Telco Vendor Jan 2005 (3 weeks)

  • Remit: Undertake a rapid assessment of a failing OSS/BSS software development/SI programme. Identify problems and provide proposals for resolution to return the project to agreed timescales, functional specification and profitability.
  • Outcome: Report delivered detailing issues/concerns and strategies for resolution.

Interim Solutions Consultant - Tech Mahindra May 2004 – Jan 2005

  • Remit: Create and lead a consultancy/pre-sales team, to engage with BT’s LOBs and own numerous significant NGOSS/BSS business opportunities.
  • Manage BT’s requirements and expectations, as well as internal functions to create detailed solution proposals that were commercially and technically viable and profitable.
  • Outcome: Created new division managing all major engagements and high-value bids. Implemented new model for BT/MBT engagement, ensuring accurate prediction of skills demand, greater client satisfaction, responsiveness, effectiveness and profitability.

Interim Feasibility Consultant - BT Exact Jan 2004 – Apr 2004

  • Remit: Undertake and manage feasibility studies, as required, within BT Group to provide significant improvements in process, technology and systems, as required.
  • Outcome: Provided numerous technical/commercial business cases covering OSS/BSS, infrastructure and process, detailing the commercial/technical/regulatory viability of the requirements with comprehensive recommendations for next steps based on.

Interim Project Manager - UK Government, DEFRA Aug 2003 – Dec 2003

  • Remit: Recover stalled project to implement financial governance across this large Government Department, using Oracle 11i.
  • Outcome: Programme restarted, put back on track and handed over within 4 months.

IFMIS Programme Manager - World Bank / Malawi Aug 2002 – Jul 2003

  • Remit: Create and deliver rescue strategy for the Malawi Government’s financial system implementation, on behalf of the World Bank, as part of a $12.6m IT programme.
  • Outcome: Previously a 3-year unsuccessful project was re-delivered in 10 months using local staff (trained on the job).

 Nortel Networks Europe Jan 2000 – May 2002

  • Remit: Manage all OSS/BSS engagements with France Telecom, Telecom Italia, KPN, their global JVs and selected BT JVs. Liaising with international teams to provide solution design, proposals and all aspects of SI engagements.
