back in few years ago, online social networks became operational and even popular among specific groups. The idea behind the project was to use the existing technology of online virtual networking, coupled with text mining capabilities, to assist the European Commission (EC) in its objective to bring closer people from small and innovating companies (SMEs - Small-Medium Enterprises) together with people from Academia. These two segments share different agendas and vocations, however they are dependent in a way, because the term R&D is built on their contributions. Only SMEs can commercialize innovations. Academia people are not in the business of making money. They are producing articles and papers. They are focused on the R (of R&D). SMEs are focused on short term goals. They are not doing research cause they can't afford it. They mainly work on the D (of R&D). So altogether these two segments can do a complete R&D. The only question is just - how to bring them together to accelerate this knowledge transfer? for this reason we had created SpidERA, which was generously funded by the EC in order to fulfill our vision in the areas of Life Sciences and Health (LSH). For this we called the project SpidERA for LIFE.
